5 Tips to Treat Wedding Guests to an Extra-Special Experience

Corner Estate on Cameron is an 8-bedroom, 5-bathroom home near Downtown La Crosse.
This well-appointed historic house is available for rent year-round.

Want to be a truly amazing host to your wedding guests? Think beyond the food, music, and décor. Here are five tips to make sure their entire visit is comfortable, fun, and memorable.

1. For a more intimate experience, consider renting a house where friends and family can stay together. Not only will this offer a more private experience, but the common areas of a house provide more opportunities for togetherness and bonding. Some of the best memories from your wedding will be from that amazing conversation you had with your mom, curled up on the couch in front of a fire; chasing your nephews around the yard; or laughing with your cousin while you grab a late-night snack in the kitchen. You’ll find the house quickly becomes the go-to hub for guests to spend quality time together leading up to, and after, the big event.

2. Stock the fridge with snacks, beverages, and easy-to-prepare meals. A simple family dinner prepared together can be a nice change from take-out or crowded restaurants.

3. Prep gift baskets to make their stay more comfortable and to thank them for being a part of your big day. Think local treats, small gifts, and toiletries. We especially like popcorn from The Great River Popcorn Company, nuts and chocolates from Finnottes, handmade soaps from Larson’s General, and Wisco-themed gifts from Drift Mercantile. For a special thank-you gift, browse the Silver Hideout or find fine jewelry at Howes Diamond Jewelers, Designing Jewelers, or Rose Jewelers. Fresh flowers from Monet Floral add another nice touch.

4. Guests will likely have some downtime. Leave a curated list of fun, local activities and attractions on the kitchen counter. They’ll enjoy exploring and will appreciate the tailored recommendations.

5. Provide a ‘wedding journal’ for guests to record their memories of the time spent together. It’s more personal than a signature in a guest book, and you’ll love reading their memories of you, and about their experiences at the wedding.

Best wishes for your special day!
