Planning for a wedding is an exciting time to materialize a couple’s vision of marriage and celebration. Whether you’re excited or intimidated (or both), taking time to plan your event will reduce your stress and allow enjoyment of your wedding day. Contacting venues and vendors early will provide best availability (June, September, and October are our busiest months). It is essential to build a team of support from family, friends, and vendors in the months leading up to your Big Day. But now - it’s crunch time. After nearly 10 years experience in wedding rentals, here’s our advice on the three most important days of your wedding.
The Day Before
Plan for time allowed to decorate and establish times for the vendors to arrive chronologically. For example, hang lighting before setting up tables, space tables and chairs before setting out table décor, set up the dessert bar before the bakery arrives. Work with the venue to maximize your decorating window.
Hire Delivery Services. As a rental company, this is our best advice we can provide. Hire delivery service for anything you can to save time and sanity!
Trust your instincts and own your style. Keep design vision clear and be careful not to over-decorate and create clutter. Communicate this vision with everyone involved in decorating.
Ask for help early and often! Feeling overwhelmed is normal – don’t try to go it alone. Surround yourself with supportive and helpful friends, family, and professionals.
Not feeling confident with design? Budget for a wedding planner to help define your style and organize logistics for the event.
The Day Of
Brides: Do Not Decorate the day of your wedding! Ask family, friends, venue staff, or hire a professional planner or decorator. Trust your plan, trust your people. Accept things will not be perfect. If you have a hard time letting go of the decorating, we recommend hiring a wedding planner or designer.
Communicate your Day-of Plan with members of the bridal party and involved parties. Share your itinerary for hair and makeup, wedding party and family photos, etc. Consider hiring a Day-Of Coordinator if you feel overwhelmed by logistics.
Delegate responsibilities. Who is picking up snacks and beverages for the wedding party? Who will be lighting the candles at the reception before your guests arrive? Brainstorm day-of needs with friends and family - then delegate!
The Day After
You want to sleep in! It’s been a journey of months, and it’s finally done. You’re married! But not only do your feet hurt from dancing, the venue wants you out by 12pm. Delegate Day-After clean-up so you can enjoy your first day of wedded bliss.
Schedule Retrieval Services in chronological order. For example, remove table décor and lighting before the rental company arrives to take down the tent and load up the tables.
The La Crosse area is packed with talented wedding vendors to assist you with the planning process. Build your team of support, plan out your day, then let go of the reins and celebrate your Best Day. Cheers!
