12+ MONTHS BEFORE
▢ Plan your wedding budget
▢ Assemble your ‘planning team’. (Hire a wedding consultant if desired)
▢ Set your wedding date
▢ Start planning the guest list
▢ Book ceremony and reception sites
▢ Select your wedding party and ask them to be a part of your big day
8-10 MONTHS BEFORE
▢ Shop for and order your wedding gown
▢ Research and book wedding professionals:
▢ Photographer
▢ Videographer
▢ Reception Band or DJ
▢ Florist
▢ Graphic designer (for invitations, signs, etc.)
6-8 MONTHS BEFORE
▢ Book ceremony musicians
▢ Order attendant dresses
▢ Research hair salons and make-up professionals
▢ Start planning your honeymoon
▢ Send save-the-date cards
4-6 MONTHS BEFORE
▢ Attend pre-wedding counseling, if required / desired
▢ Order invitations and wedding rings
▢ Show for men’s formal wear
▢ Renew / get passports if needed for honeymoon
▢ Research and book baker / cake designer
▢ Call to schedule alterations appointments
▢ Schedule rehearsal dinner
3 MONTHS BEFORE
▢ Order wedding cake
▢ Hire wedding day transportation: limousines or other cars
2 MONTHS BEFORE
▢ Make sure all wearing suits / tuxedos have been measured for formal wear
▢ Mail your invitations
▢ Purchase gifts for parents, attendants, and each other
▢ Do your hair and make-up trials
1 MONTH BEFORE
▢ Apply for a marriage license
▢ Have a final gown fitting.
▢ Remember to bring along the person who will be helping bustle your dress
▢ Set your pick-up date for your gown (if applicable) so that it will be pressed and ready for your big day
▢ Make sure attendants have finalized alterations, pick-up dates, and steaming / pressing for their dresses
▢ Make last-minute adjustments with vendors
▢ Create a wedding program
2 WEEKS BEFORE
▢ Review final RSVP list
▢ Finalize photography must-have shots and list of who should be included in formal shots
▢ Deliver final song list to DJ or bandleader
▢ Get your last pre-wedding haircut and color
WEEK OF
▢ Give reception site / caterer final guest count
▢ Supply location manager with vendor requests
▢ Plan seating chart
▢ Print place cards and deliver to reception site manager
▢ Coordinate and confirm vendor setup and delivery times and wedding day details
▢ Those wearing suits / tuxedos should attend formal wear final fittings
DAY/NIGHT BEFORE
▢ Write checks and/or talk to wedding hosts (parents) about any final balances that need to be paid at the end of the reception
▢ Rehearse ceremony and enjoy rehearsal dinner
▢ Bring unity candle or any ceremony accessories to the site
▢ Give your marriage license to your officiant
